JOB DETAIL

Our client is a boutique construction project management consultancy offering construction planning, advisory and client project management services. They are now seeking an experienced Planner to join their professional team.

As the Planner, you will be assisting builders and developers throughout all phases of the development cycle by providing construction advice, strategy and detailed construction planning on complex builds across all sectors from smaller up to $500m. They undertake predominantly new build projects however also have fit-out and refurb capability.

Candidates can come from a Planner, Site Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager or Contracts Admin background to name a few and ideally having some main contractor experience. Training can be provided on the job and the company prides itself on flexible working around family life.

Responsibilities include but not limited to 

  • Proactively leading a planning and projects control culture
  • Implementing planning strategies and reviews for projects
  • Produce fully detailed construction programmes for large scale projects
  • Plan all phases of the development cycle – feasibility, concept, design development, tender / procurement, construction, commissioning / handover
  • Produce written methodologies and staging plans which clearly highlight site logistics and workflow
  • Implement monitoring systems focusing on project controls and earned value reporting
  • Highlight project risks and provide mitigation strategies
  • Early identification and communication to the client of opportunities during forecast analysis
  • Interface with project teams, vendors, subcontractors and consultants
  • Effectively collaborate, consult and cooperate with client project teams

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (civil / structure / mechanical) and / or construction management
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience on large scale projects, preferably in infrastructure (though commercial, residential, health and government will also be accepted)
  • Site experience within a management, quality and / or project control role with a tier 1 or 2 contractor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and drive
  • Use of planning software such as Asta Powerproject – though experience on Primavera P6 or equivalent will suffice.
