We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a working knowledge of supporting an oil & gas operator with maintenance financial matters. Ideally you will be ACCA qualified and have experience working within an oil & gas operator.

Highlights of the Recruitment

Responsibilities will include :

  • Accuracy of ledgers and delivering consistent and efficient process relevant to the following cost categories:
  • Direct Costs (offshore contractors, catering, chemicals)
  • Maintenance
  • Prepare budget information for these cost categories from Operations teams to feed into partner budgets and WP&B, ensuring information received is in line with actual spend/current accounting.
  • Prepare current year Gross Opex Outlook reporting for Operations for these categories. Comprehensive cost re-forecast required at least four times per year.
  • Prepare and further develop Monthly Cost Reports that help the business understand and control their opex spend. Hold regular meetings with Budget Holders in order to help them better understand, manage and control their budgets; provide accurate VOWD/Re-forecasts/Variance Analysis.
  • Cover for other team members within the Operations Accounting team during holidays and short term project work.
  • Assist in the completion of the documentation of accounting procedures that enable Finance to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Assist in the regular review with Internal Controls Advisor.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the business processes as they relate to your area of responsibility.
  • Develop strong working relationship with all members of the asset team, representing financial matters in this sphere of activity.
  • Ad-hoc – duties as requested by the Team Lead – Finance Business Partnering (FBP)

Qualifications : Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA) – Part qualified/recently qualified preferred

  • Ability to perform a critical review of financial information.
  • Oil industry experience preferred.
  • Experience of accounting for Joint venture & Operations accounting preferred.
  • Experience of preparing management reporting in a timely accurate manner essential.
  • Experience of budgeting essential.
  • Good systems skills required – SAP experience is critical.
  • Good technical accounting skills and ability to work in detail to ensure accurate records.
  • Good relationship management skills.
  • Good communication skills (both interpersonal and written).
  • Good presentation skills.
